FREE WALLPAPER: Evading Icicles "Mondayitis" Perth Standlick

![]() Perth Standlick, Ours, Friday June 15. Pic: natesmithphoto Perth Standlick’s come a long way from the shore breaks of Bondi he surfed as a grom – not that he had to travel far for this Ours session last week. The 21-year-old still holds down a residency at the “Über cool” Mecca of the Sydney City surf scene just eight kilometres away from the rock-fringed slab (as the crow flies). His surfing however, has taken international flight. Good thing too – otherwise his nickname “Wonderboy” may have ended up being (in retrospect) a kiss of death and not a term of endearment. Currently Perth is sitting at 68 on the ASP Men’s World Rankings and appears to be finding a voice in the big events. His near scalping of top 34 surfer Kai Otton in round 16 of the Quiksliver Saquarema Prime event in Brazil recently is a good example of how his contest act has matured. “My heat against Perth Standlick was tense,” Kai was quoted as saying after he squeaked by the in form Perth. “I had already faced him and won in this event, so I think he had some revenge in mind.” Perth’s powerful, low over-the-shoulder style of surfing brims with rail-hungry chops and above-the-lip work that suits a surfer with a super hero like moniker. His blending of these two positives – particularly his frontside rail grab fin ditch 540 – is what gets Tracksmag.com’s virtual hands clapping.
