it seems that live webcams aren,t always live , today after working a night shift at about 5am as the suns coming up on the east coast , i decided to check snapper , rainbow and d-bah on the hurley iphone app ( the paid version links the coastalwatch live web cams , so i check snapper as ususal the cams covered in sea mist and useless , so i check rainbow and thats unususal i thought , the suns fully up and it looks like its about midday , strange at 5 am so i check d-bah and wow the suns coming up despite just around the corner rainbow is fully light and looking like its midday , so it seems that some of these feeds aren,t live at all but just pre-recorded video streams !! i haved worked repairing and installing security cameras and i know different cameras can show varying light levels thou this was as plain as day it was as if it was midday and clear as a bell , and i just wanted to add that overall coastalwatch provides a fantastic free service , they just shouldn,t try and pull the wool over our eyes and stream pre-recorded footage to maintain appearances

That's strange, at my local I get the live ones but can't view the replays at all? They have changed something though, I used to be able to watch as long as I liked even rewinding back half a day if I wanted too and watch myself LOL But this option has now gone.

Coastalwatch cameras were funded primarily by lifesaving Australia grants, they just paste ads all over them to sell to surfers. I think the fact that most of the WA cameras have been pulled due to lifesaving funding is a pretty clear message of the 'commitment' of Coastalwatch as soon as they were asked to put their own hand into their pocket and put some skin in the game. Ah well, you still have 'mountainwatch' to enjoy two months of the year during ski season

has anyone checked out the coastalwatch plus site. i did the 15 day free trial but didnt see the real point of paying for it, not much different to the free site

Exactly, but they are using a different "path"! They must've upgraded their software a while ago ... the Hypertext code for the links no longer works to the cameras I never gave the codes to anyone although any Engineer worth his salt could do it so maybe why it was changed. I was simply going directly to the cams NOT via CW or their site links.
I made sure it didn't effect any users (especially paying ones) FIRST (test software) before doing it too!
