Kai Otton, Flings Over Off The Wall, Hawaii

Winds and airs on the North Shore.

There’s been a steady trend of NE trades on the North Shore according to photographer, Ed Sloane. This shot of Kai Otton taking flight like a gull was shot the day after Dusty Payne’s win at the Reef Hawaiian Pro.

“Basically the whole North Shore was quiet yesterday following the comp running from start to finish non-stop,” says Sloane.

“Not many photogs and not many surfers. We’re in a pattern of NE trades but they’re kind of strong and I reckon this image sums it all up really. Airs and wind.”

Not that we’re complaining. With the best surfers in the world currently glued to The Rock there will be plenty more vision like this beamed across the Pacific real soon.
