KaiBorg Suffers A Heart Attack

The Hawaiian remains in hospital.

Kai “Borg” Garcia suffered a heart attack over the weekend. If you know anything about the North Shore you’ll know Kai is a larger than life character who is a fixture at the Volcom house each season. He has also worked with the WSL as water patrol at the Fiji Pro.

As the news spread well wishes from surfers appeared on Instagram.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the Garcia family, as we all just got a serious scare of how fragile this life is and how easily it can be taken. Glad your doing ok, and I’ll be praying for you and the family!! Never take for granted the moment to tell your close friends or family how much you care for and love them! We love you Borg and need you out in the lineup doing turns like this!!” said fellow Hawaiian Dusty Payne.

The latest is that Borg has had surgery and is in a stable condition. We wish the gentle giant a speedy recovery and know that he’ll he be back bigger and better than ever.

Make sure you pick up this month’s Hawaiian themed issue of Tracks to see KaiBorg thread one of the best Backdoor tubes of the winter.
