No Good Claims

The WSL breaks down the difference between a good claim and a bad claim.

Aside from Mick’s shark attack at J-Bay the biggest talking point this year has been claiming. Good claims, bad claims and whether or not they’re good for surfing was discussed at length on yesterday’s morning show at the Moche Rip Curl Pro, Portugal.

Anchored by Ronnie Blakey, Potz (celebrating his 50th birthday), along with Strider dissected the nuances of what qualifies as a claim, bad claim and how it has affected our sport.

“It’s contagious … it’s spreading like a virus through our sport,” said Pottz.

“If I got a wave like that I would be calling my friends up,” defining what constitutes an acceptable claim Strider.

And of course all the usual subjects were referenced: Medina, de Souza, Filipe, Jordy Smith, Kolohe, Fanning and Ottz.
