Surfers React To Mick Fanning’s Shark Attack

Mick, Julian, Kelly and more show an outpouring of shock and relief.

Yesterday at the J-Bay Open Mick Fanning survived a shark attack during the final against Julian Wilson. This video is long but is well worth your time as it displays the entirety of an extremely close call and the reactions from all involved. Including footage from the shark attack as it happened, the the water patrol rescuing Mick and Jules and much discussion from a visibly shaken commentary team. The interviews with Mick, Julian and Kelly Slater are incredibly personal and reveal the full spectrum of human emotions. Todd Kline, Pete Mel and Ross Williams then speak with WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow who explains how fortunate we were not to lose anyone today.
